I am a mom to amazing twin girls, a wife, and I work full time. I battled infertility for 2 years and over the course of treatments, a twin pregnancy, and raising twins I managed to gain about 80 lbs. I’ve lost about 50 lbs so far and would like to lose another 50 in my quest to become a hot mama.

16 weeks

Time for the 16 week survey!  I can't believe I am already 16 weeks.  This pregnancy is going so fast and so slow all at the same time.

How far along: 16 weeks, 1 days

Total Weight Gain: 12.5 lbs (Eeeek....I am not taking kindly to this whole gaining weight thing.) Although according to twin pregnacny guidelines I haven't gained quite enough yet...1 pound per week for the first 25 weeks and 2 pound thereafter for a total of 40-50lbs.  I can't imagine how big I am going to be at the end!

Symptoms: The right side of my rib cage feels like it has been hit by a bat.  It is super sore when I am sitting.  I think something is just shifting up in there and causing this pain.  I won't complain though....it's a sign that my babies are growing and are healthy!

Stretch Marks: Yes: (  One new one on the bottom of my belly. I will wear my battle scars proudly.

Sleep: Wonderful!  I am pretty good at this one!

Best Moment Last Week: Feeling the first kick! It was hands down the most amazing experience.  It's made this pregnancy seem so much more real!

Movement: Guess I spoiled this one.  Yes, I felt the first movement 2 days ago.  It was awesome!  I have felt a least one kick or flip everyday since.  I am really looking forward to feeling them consistently.

Food Cravings: Watermelon.  Mmmmmmm.  Guess there are worse things to crave.

What I Miss: Nothing this week.

What am I looking forward to:  Our anatomy scan this Wednesday!!!

Milestones: Fetal movement is the biggie this week.  I am loving every second of this pregnancy.

How is Daddy? Amazing.  Everyday I grow more in love with him.  The thought of bringing these two beautiful babies into the world together gives me goosebumps!

16 week pics.  I definitely feel like I've grown a bit!

  1. Your belly is adorable! Also - 12.5 lbs at 16 weeks with twins? You are doing great! I am already at 10 lbs at 14 weeks with just one!!

So happy that you felt them - I can't wait for that!

  2. You are looking fantastic!!! I don't think 12 pounds is bad at all for twins. It's crazy to watch those numbers rise on the scale week after week though. Especially now that mine are starting to go up more quickly. :)

  3. I'm so LOVING this post! You sound so happy!

I felt the first movements around 15 weeks also. I think around 18 or 19 weeks I was feeling LOTS! It's still the best thing about being pregnant. It's very reassuring and I feel like I'm bonding with my babies already.

I've struggled with the weight gain thing also. According to that Barbara Luke book, and a bunch of other reasources, I should have gained a lot more. I've only gained 12 pounds, here at 29 weeks. But every time I ask the doctors about it, they say they are not worried. They say the babies will get what they need, to make sure and take my prenatals and get lots of water. Plus, the babies are right on, or ahead of their weight target.

So glad things are going well for you!

  4. I'm with PJ -- you sound smitten! Seriously your good mood is just LEAPING off the page and I realized I was sitting here smiling as I read it. I'm so happy things are going so well and that you're enjoying every second of your pregnancy. Wasn't the first movement cool? It will be really neat when you can tell which baby is kicking, too!

  5. What a great week! I'm excited for your anatomy scan too - can't wait for all the details!! I'm jealous of your sleeping, mine's not going so well, so enjoy it!!

  6. Wow I can't believe you're already 16 weeks either!! Time is moving quickly....(and slowly too). You sound so happy and that's wonderful!!!!! :)
