I am a mom to amazing twin girls, a wife, and I work full time. I battled infertility for 2 years and over the course of treatments, a twin pregnancy, and raising twins I managed to gain about 80 lbs. I’ve lost about 50 lbs so far and would like to lose another 50 in my quest to become a hot mama.

No news is good news

Today's appointment revealed that I am holding steady.  Still 80% effaced and fingertip dilated.  I told the doctor that I thought I had lost my mucus plug and he said that it means nothing and would venture to say that all of the cervical exams that I have been having week to week are what dislodged it. Whew.

Both babies are still head down...so  by definition both babies are vertex/vertex however, baby B's body is actually transverse across the top of my abdomen.  The doctor said we can go ahead and schedule our C-section for 38 weeks.  He did say that he strongly encourages me to think about having a vaginal delivery, espeically if the babies are born early, to help squeeze all of the fluid out of their lungs.  He said if I am 5 or 6 centimeters dilated, he would like for me to consider a vaginal birth.  He did say that they would of course respect our wishes for a c-section if that is what we choose to do.  What are your thoughts on this?  I know statistically, even when both twins are head down, many twins wind up being delivered via c-section because the uterus is so distended that the contractions are just not productive enough to move the baby down.  DH and I have some serious thinking to do.

The NST revealed pretty steady (and strong) contractions. My BP was 100/50!!!  A new pregnancy low for me! God bless my naturally low blood pressure!!!

We go back next week for our growth scan!!

  1. I had a rare experience, but my c-section was truly awful. The actual section wasn't too bad, but afterwards it was terrible due to a complication. If you want details you can email me, but I don't want to scare you so I will leave that up to you.

Anyway, I went to visit a friend who just had a baby yesterday and she was up and walking around her room and I thought that would have been wonderful. If I could go back and have the option of a vaginal, I would have definitely tried it.

Great job holding on, I can't wait to find out what you're having!

  3. I truly think that if it was me and the Dr. was encouraging a vaginal birth, I would seriously consider it.

  5. I know several people who have had great twin vaginal deliveries. If it was me I would leave all options open and see what my body and the babies decide when the time comes, unless there were specific reasons you were thinking a c section would be best. Keep up the good resting!

  6. I am in debate with you too. But my doctor isn't pushing one way over another. He just gives me statistics for both and is going to let me decide. I am so glad your cervix hasn't changed. Only a few more days till 34 weeks!

  10. If your Dr. is giving you the option of a vaginal birth I would seriously consider it. I've heard of so many Dr.'s who don't give women an option. I think it's wonderful that you have the option. I have delivered all 3 of mine vaginally with no pain meds and can't imagine a c-section. The whole Epidural and surgery scares me. Best of Luck and Congratulations!
