I am a mom to amazing twin girls, a wife, and I work full time. I battled infertility for 2 years and over the course of treatments, a twin pregnancy, and raising twins I managed to gain about 80 lbs. I’ve lost about 50 lbs so far and would like to lose another 50 in my quest to become a hot mama.

Maternity Shopping?

I give up.  My clothes literally do not fit.  I haven't gained weight...and my pants simply will not button.  I really didn't think that this happened so early in pregnancy.  My pants will close in the morning (standing) but when I sit, it is terribly uncomfortable and by the end of the day trying to close them is just laughable.  I started wearing my Bella Band yesterday.  I have thrown my hands up.  It's funny...I still feel like a fraud wearing it.  I feel like a "faker."  Damn you IF for screwing up my mind.

With that being said, I hope I didn't jinx this pregnancy, but I went ahead and ordered 2 maternity dresses today.  I have a really important banquet to go to with DH in 3 weeks (I'll be 9 weeks at that point) and not one of my dresses that I own fits.  So after polling some of my message board girls (who have all assured me that tight pants are perfectly normal for 6 weeks along) I decided that rather than buy a dress that is one size bigger for this party, to just go ahead and get a maternity dress that I will continue to wear.  After DH's vote, I ordered these two.  I am hoping that they will cover my belly (which looks like puffy fat belly) and will eventually be able to show off a nice round bump.

I feel strangely ok ordering these dresses because I am confident that this pregnancy is going to be just fine.  I am not afraid of having a miscarriage at the moment and being afraid won't change the outcome.

As a side note, I am terrified that I am flying this week.  I have done tons of reading and everything I have found says flying absolutely does not increase the risk of miscarriage.  I hope that is true!!!!!

  4. Those dresses are really pretty!!! I'm sure you'll look fab!! :)

I know EXACTLY what you mean about feeling like a "faker" in maternity clothes. I STILL feel like I'm faking when I go shopping in maternity stores and I am in my second trimester now!! What is up with this!! Stupid infertilty mind-fuck!! Arrrrgh!!

You'll be fine in the plane and for the rest of your pregnancy!! I love your attitude about being fearless b/c what is the point of freaking out anyways?!? Go girl!!! :)

  6. Don't worry about the flying. Flying, itself, won't bother the baby one bit. My husband is a pilot. I have flown at least once a month in my pregnancy. In fact, flying a little bit later on is actually really fun. Because of the pressure (not much, trust me), the loud noise, or who knows utero babies move A LOT on take off and landing!

  7. Very cute dresses! I hope they do the trick. I have a similar black dress, though I think it's more casual. I will say, I wish I'd bought it smaller so I could wear it earlier in pregnancy, as it only now that I have a sizeable bump fits, but I guess that means it will fit later. I don't mean to scare you with that comment, but just an FYI--in case you want to have another backup since it's only 3 weeks away. I just found that early on, even though I wanted to hide my puffiness, the looser maternity stuff was too big, even though my regular stuff was too small. Good luck! I hope at least one is perfect for you!

  9. SUPER cute dresses!!
I am so glad to hear you say your clothes don't fit...I've been feeling that way for weeks too and finally got a belly band last week. I agree, I feel like a fraud or something. I hate that part of this. You inspire me to not worry, though. You are so right - what's the point?
Have a safe trip - you will be so fine. XO

  12. Love the dresses and cannot wait to see pics of you in them!! Which website did you get them from if you don't mind me asking? I have been looking for a good maternity wear website but can't find one!!! I think I'll start the band too as I have the same issue, semi ok in the morning and exploding pants at night!!! :)))

  13. Those dresses are ridiculously cute!! I love them both, but especially the top one. The Bella band was a huge help for me. I got a black one and a white one, but the white one wasn't as good because it whatever was underneath kinda showed through the fabric, so you could totally see my pants were unbuttoned if my shirt was the kind that rode up if I raised my arms. I just caved and bought 3 pairs of maternity pants because the Bella band wasn't working anymore ... sadness!

  14. Smart move, I think! I always hate seeing pregnant people who refuse to wear maternity...it's so much more adorable when you embrace the bump!! Cute choices, where are they from?
